Seventh Generation Diaper Review and GIVEAWAY!!

Sweet: Eco-friendly, soft, no diaper rash
Sour: Tabs could be nicer
Finally! We have reached my favorite product from Seventh Generation. I saved the best for last.
These are fantastic diapers. I went into this thinking they were going to be like cardboard on my little guy’s bum, but hey why not try them. As with almost all these green products I was surprised at how nice they were.
The diapers are not like cardboard at all. The outer layer is a firmer paper-like material but it is not plastic-like at all.  I was worried about this, because Luvs and basic Pampers and a few of the other plastic-like diapers caused Little G to get some awful diaper rash. The inside of the diaper is actually a soft material. It resembles other brands but is much nicer.

Seventh Generation diapers are so amazing. When wearing these Little G has little to no diaper rash. The first week we gave these a shot was when he was really sick and the poor guy had diarrhea 4-5 times a day for the whole week. Through the whole thing he had almost no diaper rash. Awesome.
I treated these diapers like gold. I saved the last few to be night time diapers, for when he would wear them the longest.
My only con for these is that the tabs are not as nice as the other brands. They are not as stretchy, are wider and a stiffer fabric. I feel this is a small price to pay for their greatness.
Seventh Generation Diapers are
  • Wood pulp processed without chemicals containing chlorine
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Fragrance and latex free
  • Premium fit and absorbency
I am such a fan of these diapers I signed up for them with Amazon subscribe and save. And…duh da dunn….I like them so much that I am going to give away a package to 1 lucky reader! This is not a compensated giveaway, I just think someone else should be able to get a shot at trying these for free.

Seventh Generation Baby Wipes Review

Sweet: Soft yet strong wipes.
Sour: Scent, packaging.
The Seventh Generation Wipes were not my favorite of the lineup.  I think these could be a great product if they had some improvement.
The basis for this (the wipe) is really nice. It is made like a stronger version of a sensitive wipe. I liked that the wipe wasn’t over moist and it didn’t irritate Little G’s bum.
On the down side I didn’t like the fragrance of the wipe at all. Perhaps this was just me, but it seemed to have a strong and slightly pungent odor. This seems to go against the Seventh Generation line, so I would give them another shot. In addition to that the packaging made the wipes hard to get out of the case, but not impossible. Are any of the brands easy to get out anyway?
So bummer on the wipes, but my favorite is still to come!

Seventh Generation Natural Baby Laundry Detergent Review

Sweet: Eco-friendly, fragrance and dye free, got out poo stains
Sour: Would be nicer in a concentrate form
I know that all the Seventh Generation Reviews sound like peaches and cream. But honestly I really do like them! So far through the testing phase, each one has held up well. My clothes came out nice and clean and I used the detergent to pre-treat some poo stains (Not Mine or D’s). I was very excited about the stain removing qualities.  Since Little G usually poos at the daycare, by the time we get the clothes at home the stains are set. At one point we threw out a onesie because there was no saving it. I think this will certainly help us to keep more of Little G’s clothes.
Originally I was a little upset that this was not a concentrate, but when I went looking on their website, it does! I would definitely buy the 2x version of this.
 Seventh Generation Baby Detergent is

  • Non-toxic & biodegradable
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Free of phosphates & optical brighteners
  • Safe for septic & greywater systems
  • Not tested on animals
  • Kosher-certified

Seventh Generation Natural All Purpose Cleaner Review

Sweet: Cleans quickly, effectively and unscented
Sour: Availability in stores
I tried my best to put this cleaner to the test. I am really impressed with this. It matched up to  my normal cleaner on the counters, sink, etc. In addition to our normal use I tested it out on our glass windows and cleaned them beautifully. Next I tested it on the pink stain on the off-white counter (from powdered juice mix) and it cleaned that off nicely too. Lastly I cleaned the grease off the front of our rotisserie, in this it exceeded my expectations and cut through the grease nicely. It actually did a much better job than my normal all-purpose cleaner. I liked that there was no scent to this product. My normal cleaner has a vinegar smell which I always  thought I liked, but now I prefer the unscented cleaner.
Overall I think this is comparable to my normal household cleaner, with a slight advantage over when it came to grease.
I had trouble finding this in store, but when I do I will definitely be buying this.
Seventh Generation All Purpose Cleaner is
  • Non-toxic & biodegradable
  • Hypo-allergenic
  • Does not create harsh fumes
  • Not tested on animals
  • Kosher-certified
Also, I am a big fan that Seventh Generation discloses all their ingredients. Seriously, who does that? That is fantastic. Working where I do and doing what I do, I know the ins and outs of what gets declared on the back of a product. The fact that Seventh Generation puts it all out there is truly brave and honorable.

Seventh Generation Paper Towel Review

So here is my first compensated review. Seventh Generation has sent me some products to look at and let you know what I think of them.

First up. Paper Towels.

Sweet: Eco-friendly, cost, works well.

Sour: A select-a-size option would be better.

We set these up in our house after we finished our last bit of our preferred paper towels. I have to say, these did a really nice job. They reminded me of the Sparkle brand paper towels that my mom used to buy. I definitely felt good about using these though. It was a nice feeling to use an eco friendly paper towel that didn’t break the bank. When I went looking, these were readily available at our local grocery stores. Nice! Oddly enough, we had lots of baby messes to pick while these were around. I would definitely use these again. My only wish is that they had a select-a-size option. I think this would really drive home the idea of not wasting our resources, and frankly most of the time I don’t need a full paper towel.

Seventh Generation Paper Towels are:

  • 100% recycled paper (minimum 80% post-consumer, 20% pre-consumer)
  • Hypo-allergenic
  • Whitened without chemicals containing chlorine or unwhitened
  • Strong and absorbent
  • Unscented
  • No added dyes and fragrances

*Update

Thanks to a question from Jen, I am going to compare the paper towels to other brands we have used.

This paper towel seems like a good basic paper towel. It is comparable to Marcal or Sparkle. It isn’t as thick as any of the premium brands (Bounty, Brawny or Scott). But it is thicker than store brands. Seventh Generation paper towels picked up less than the premium brands but the difference is small enough that we would continue to use this brand.
